tlachd

£60.00

Scots Gaelic for: ‘pleasure’.

A series of four espresso mugs unearthed in 2021 working with small batch glazes and local Kenyan clay. Named ‘tlachd’ because a wee espresso does just bring me pleasure. I have tried to make acorn and beech nut coffee from seeds foraged in Scotland but I am afraid it is the far-away coffee beans that take first place! And I think my body often craves the antioxidants!

I threw them using a simple modern wheel in Nairobi, Kenya in a wonderful little studio called Tope on the outskirts of the city. A place of refuge from the bustle during a personal journey of learning to befriend and appreciate stillness.
