sgaoileadh

£65.00

Scots Gaelic for: ‘dispersal or dissolution’.

‘sgaoileadh’ was unearthed in 2021 using small batch glazes and local Kenyan clay. I threw her using a simple modern wheel in Nairobi, Kenya in a wonderful Arts Centre in the thick of the city and then glazed at the equally wonderful Tope Pottery on the outskirts.

This piece was inspired by Nairobi's autumn shedding of ‘leaves’ which in reality takes the shape of flowers...kind of magical right? In fact I have found there is a lot of magic to be found in shedding what no longer serves me over the past few years; instead channelling that energy into new beauty in the same way these flowers will decompose to bring new life.
